Less really can be more.
This Christmas Day and season may have been marked by seeing less people. Attending less parties. Baking less cookies. Doing less decorating. Buying less presents.
When there is less of one thing however, there is always more of another. Could it be in this Christmas (or year) of less, we are actually experiencing more?
Could it be that we have been given the opportunity to be more focused on the true meaning this Christmas, more grateful for the greatest Gift ever given, more aware of His presence with us, more mindful to offer the worship that is due His name, more purposeful with the people we do see?
While there may be physical reminders of the “less” around us today, perhaps even more so is the sense of “more”: all because of the One named Immanuel and the significance of that name.
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, ‘God with us.’” Matthew 1:23
So much more focused on what and Who we are celebrating. The stress wasn’t nearly as high. Paring down made it a more precious time
Amen! Perhaps 2020 was a year of perfect vision after all!
