Look Up

Anguish.  Distress.  Grief.  Those were the emotions David experienced (and more!) when he returned to the city of Ziklag (see 1 Samuel 30) only to discover that the city had been invaded, attacked, burned, and the women (including his wives) and children had been taken captive.

Think for a moment how you would respond  – or how you DO respond – in moments of anguish, distress, and grief.

Do you know how David responded?  We read in 1 Samuel 30:6, “But David strengthened himself in the Lord.”

That, my friends, is the very thing we need to do when the world – or our world – feels like it’s burning.  One way we can do this is simply to remember to “look up.”

In this brief video, it is my hope to encourage ourselves to remember to look up and see the One who is seated above it all.  It is only after we’ve first looked up that we will be strenthened with hope, assurance, and proper perspective to then look out at what is taking place around us.
