For the past week, every evening we’ve heard a sound in the woods similar to a baby sheep or goat, making a “bleating” noise. At first we thought it was a newborn fawn, as we often have deer around here. This went on until we couldn’t stand not knowing what it was, so I finally put on my jeans, a long sleeved shirt, boots and a ball cap, and ventured out to search for the little creature.
After a while, with no success, I gave up the hunt and came back defeated and still mystified as to what was out there.
As I told my neighbor about it, she suggested frogs, as there’s a little creek back there. WHAT? No, it couldn’t be that! But….she found a video of frogs that do make a bleating sound like sheep!
Although this was a somewhat comical experience, it reminded me just how easily we can be deceived (or fooled) if we don’t know GOD’S truth. How we must listen to the “sounds of the Lord,” His Word, each and every day!
“Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide… Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:97, 105
{A special word of encouragement from a special person: my mom.}
I love the sounds of fall that we are hearing now! It is such a beautiful time of year. God is with us in every season, He is a constant, He never leaves us or forsakes us. I praise Him daily!
