Reminder: You define your goals. Your goals don’t define you.
The longer (and truer) version:
You define your goals, through the guidance of the Word of God and the leading of the Spirit of God. Your goals, whether the simple act of setting them or the admirable act of achieving them, do not define you.
As thoughts of the New Year, and yes – new possibilities, and even new goals – loom in front of us, let’s remind ourselves of the most important goal: to be faithful to run the race HE has set before us and above all, to bring delight to Him.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)
“He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.”
(Psalm 147:10-11)
May this be the filter through which all other goals must pass.
